The raw materials for blast furnace smelting mainly include iron ore, fuel (coke and injected fuel), flux (limestone and dolomite, etc.). Smelting one ton of pig iron requires about 63% of iron ore 1.60-1.65 tons, 0.3-0.6 tons of coke, and 0.2-0.4 tons of flux.

Ironmaking processes

Blast furnace ironmaking is a traditional ironmaking method based on coke as an energy source. It is compatible with converter steelmaking and is currently the main method of producing steel. The dominance of blast furnace ironmaking is expected to remain unchanged for a long time. The essence of blast furnace ironmaking is the reduction process of iron, and coke as fuel and reducing agent, iron ore or iron-containing raw material iron at high temperature, from the mineral state of the oxide cargo (such as Fe2O3, Fe3O4, Fe2SiO4, Fe3O4·TiO2 Etc.) is reduced to liquid pig iron.
